APPEARANCE Rating:

HUGE red and green striped apple. Have I mentioned how HUGE it is? I could bowl with this thing. It’s the size of a small child’s head. It is very very large. HUGE. Bright white flesh.
AROMA Rating:

Sweet and grassy
TEXTURE Rating:

Crisp and juicy – I like them slightly crunchier, but this is good
TASTE Rating:

Bright, sweet flavor. Very fresh, slight tartness.
OVERALL Overall Rating:

This apple is very good, not great but definitely very good. It’s just so large. Intimidatingly and ridiculously large. How exactly would one casually pull this out of their bag for a snack? I don’t think it would even fit in a paper lunch bag. You would have to haul your lunch around in an actual paper grocery bag — maybe even double bagged. I mean you wouldn’t want to explain that your soup container exploded because you dropped your paper lunch bag when the single handle broke due to the monster size of your apple. Would you?

NOTES
The Red Prince is a cross between the Golden Delicious and Red Jonathan apples. This is a pretty recent apple, having only shown up in Europe in 1994. It also appears to have just gotten to the US last year. Welcome Red Prince! I hope you like it here. Interestingly, there is an entire website dedicated to the marketing of this apple and it claims that Red Prince apples are uniformly dark red all over, which this one was not. So…I dunno.
