Deep red with green and gold stripes, white flesh
Crunchy, crispy and juicy
The first note is tart(!) but then it mellows out in to a nice sweetness
OVERALL Overall Rating:
This is a really great tart apple with fantastic texture. My only real problem with this apple, and it is significant, is that there is nothing crazy about it. Tart yes, but worthy of a name like Mohawk? I think not. If you are going to have a Mohawk, and I think you should, you need to own it. Make it two feet tall or purple or wear it to work with your suit and tie – do something that makes me respect your spunkiness (sorry if that is too sensitive of a word for you mohawk wearers). What you should not do, is slap a badge on your baby blue polo shirt that says “Hi my name is Mohawk” when really you have a comb over. That is what you should not do.

Apparently, the farm that grew this apple also named it. I think new apple varieties are not to be trusted. No more babysitting for you Mr. So-Called-Mohawk, now that I know you are “recent”.
