Extremely small, squatty, orange tangerine; a little bigger than a walnut; orange. mostly seedless flesh (I have found a single seed here and there).

Strong, citrusy and acidic.

TEXTURE 4.5 out of 5 stars

It has a zipper skin, which basically means it is the easiest thing to peel EVER (easier than a banana – seriously). Soft and explodingly juicy! The minimal pith is slightly stringy, which is fine for eating but can be a little bit of a pain if you are finicky.

Sweet and more sweet; pure tangerine flavor.

Peels like a dream and you can eat the whole thing in one un-lady-like bite. Huzzah! Also, have you ever thought that a baby was so cute that you could just nibble on them? Well, if you peel this Kishu and take apart the little pieces, they look like baby toes. Now the next time you lean down to nibble that stranger’s baby, you can eat one of these instead and save yourself an explanation to the mother. Once again, no need to thank me for saving you from public embarassment.

Apparently there are four types of Kishu’s. (Don’t you just love saying the word “Kishu”. Say it with me, “KISHU.” Your day is getting better every time you say it. I know.) Three have seeds and one doesn’t. Seedless is obviously ideal, but seriously this is a case where spitting out the seeds is sooo worth the effort.
