I have tried this pear. I bought it at Reading Terminal-Phila. As you stated, it is beautiful to look at so I bought it out of curiousity. Not knowing a thing about it, when I took my first bite I thought, "could this be an apple/pear hybrid?" So I went on Internet to look up and found your site. Anyway it was not as sweet as you said you heard it could be but wasn't as tasteless as you described yourself. I have two more. Maybe I let them really ripen before I try another to see if that helps. But I agree, I won't be searching to buy it again. Too many other tasty fruits to enjoy.

I've tried the Yali picked yellow (after commercial harvest). The fruit had a sweet flavor with a touch and smell like cinnamon. A great flavor. I tried one picked the same way the next year and found it as you described???
